Free SEO checker

An SEO checker tests whether a page is ready for search engines. Can Google open it? Can it add it to its index? What will it show in the results? Is the page fast on a phone? The checker below takes a page address, reads the page and the site's robots.txt, asks Google PageSpeed, and lists what to fix first. It is free and needs no sign-up.

Check your page with the SEO checker

Free, no sign-up. 3 analyses a day. Only the page you enter is read.

The SEO checker looks at one page, usually your home page. Reading the page and running Google PageSpeed takes about half a minute. The address you enter and your IP address are kept for 30 days only to apply the daily limit, then deleted.

What is an SEO checker?

An SEO checker looks at the technical and content side of a page and tells you if anything gets in the way of search engines. A clean result does not mean you will rank first. Rankings depend on competition, the quality of your content and how much people trust your site. The checker answers “is something blocking me?”, not “where do I rank?”. For the second question, use the free Google rank checker.

One wrong setting can wipe out a ranking completely. A noindex tag left on by mistake, or a robots.txt rule that blocks the whole site, keeps a page out of Google. This is why the checker looks at those first.

What does the SEO checker test?

GroupChecksWhy it matters
Does the page open?HTTP status, https, redirectsA page that does not open, or is not secure, will not rank. Long redirect chains slow the page down.
Can it be indexed?noindex, canonical, robots.txt, sitemapThis is where you tell a search engine to skip a page. The most serious problems show up here.
What shows in the results?Title tag, meta description, H1, subheadingsThese make the blue link and the text under it in the results. They affect clicks and how well the page is understood.
ContentAmount of text, image alt text, internal and external linksVery little text, or text that only exists after JavaScript runs, is hard for a search engine to understand.
Mobile and basicsViewport, page language, share tags, structured dataGoogle mostly uses the mobile version of a page. Share tags and structured data can raise clicks.
Speed (Google PageSpeed)Performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO scores; LCP, FCP, TBT, CLSSlow pages and pages that jump around lose visitors. Google rates these numbers against thresholds it publishes.

How to read the SEO checker report

  1. Start with the red items. An error is something that affects whether the page can show up at all: it is closed to indexing, it is not on https, it has no title.
  2. Then the warnings. Most are chances to improve: a short title, a missing description, more than one H1.
  3. Look at the work, not the score. A Lighthouse SEO score of 100 does not promise a ranking. It only says the basic technical checks pass.
  4. Fix, then run it again. After you change something, check the same page again and make sure the warning is gone.

How to run an SEO check by hand

You can do most of this yourself. It takes longer, and it is worth knowing where each answer comes from.

  • Indexing: open Google Search Console, paste the address into the search bar at the top and read the “URL inspection” result.
  • Title, description, H1: right-click the page, choose “View page source” and search for the title, description and h1 tags.
  • robots.txt and sitemap: open yoursite.com/robots.txt and yoursite.com/sitemap.xml in a browser.
  • Speed: paste the address into PageSpeed Insights and read the mobile tab.

The SEO checker above does these in one step and puts the problems in order. To compare what each kind of tool costs, see the cheapest SEO tools.

What this SEO checker does not cover

It reads one page, so it does not find broken links or duplicate titles across a whole site. That needs a site crawl. It also does not judge keywords, backlinks or the quality of the writing, which a technical check cannot measure. The speed numbers are lab results from a simulated mobile device, so the speed your real visitors see can differ. Server response time is measured from our server with a single request. Pages that need a login or block bots may not be readable, and the checker tells you when that happens.

For a regular check of the whole site, the SerpBeats site health crawl tests it with about 40 checks, orders the problems by how much fixing them lifts your score, shows Core Web Vitals and lists what changed since the last crawl.

Crawl your whole site and track your rankings every day. 7 days free, no credit card.

Frequently asked questions

What is an SEO checker?

A tool that tests if a page is ready for search engines: whether it opens, whether it can be indexed, whether it has a title and description, and whether it is fast on mobile.

How do I check my website's SEO for free?

Enter your page address in the checker above. It reads the page and the site's robots.txt, adds Google PageSpeed results and puts the problems in order. You can also check by hand with Google Search Console and PageSpeed Insights.

Is the SEO checker free? Do I need an account?

It is free and needs no account. To prevent abuse you can run 3 checks a day.

Why don't you give one SEO score?

Many tools show a single “SEO score”, but how it is worked out is unclear and it does not tell you what to fix. We show errors, warnings and passes separately. Google's own SEO and performance scores are shown as PageSpeed returns them.

Does the checker show my Google ranking?

No. It shows whether something is in the way of your page. To see your position for a keyword, use the free rank checker.

Why could my page not be read?

The site may have refused the connection, asked for a login, blocked bots, or not answered. Check that the address opens in your browser.
